❄️ AC Tonnage Calculator

Size an air conditioner for Dubai's climate based on room dimensions.

What Size AC Do You Need in Dubai?

Air conditioner capacity is measured in tons, where one ton equals 12,000 BTU of cooling per hour. Sizing starts from room area: in a temperate climate around 25 BTU per square foot is typical, but Dubai's intense heat and long cooling season push that higher, so this calculator uses roughly 35 BTU per square foot and adds an exposure factor for sun-facing rooms, top floors and rooms with large windows or many occupants. Getting the size right matters — an undersized unit runs constantly and never cools, while an oversized one short-cycles, wastes electricity and leaves the air humid. Use this as a guide, then have an installer confirm against your room's specifics.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a "ton" of cooling?

It's 12,000 BTU per hour — the rate at which the AC removes heat, not the unit's weight.

Why does Dubai need a bigger AC than other places?

Higher outdoor temperatures and a long summer mean more heat to remove, so more BTU per square foot.

Is bigger always better?

No. An oversized AC short-cycles, wastes power and leaves rooms humid. Correct sizing is more efficient. Need help? Book an inspection.
