⚡ Watts / Volts / Amps Calculator
Fill any two fields and leave the third blank — it solves for the missing value.
The Relationship Between Watts, Volts and Amps
Power, voltage and current are tied together by a simple rule. For a single-phase supply, watts = volts × amps × power factor. For a three-phase supply, multiply by the square root of three (about 1.732). The UAE grid runs at 230 V single-phase and 400 V three-phase, so this calculator defaults to those expectations. Enter any two known values and it solves for the third — useful for sizing a circuit, checking whether an appliance will overload a socket, or converting an amp rating into the wattage you'll be billed for. Power factor defaults to 1 (resistive loads like heaters); motors and ACs typically run 0.8–0.9.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is power factor?
It measures how effectively current is converted to useful power. Resistive loads are 1.0; motors and AC compressors are usually 0.8–0.9.
Is Dubai single-phase or three-phase?
Apartments are typically single-phase 230 V; larger villas and commercial units often have three-phase 400 V.
Why does my appliance draw more amps than calculated?
Start-up surge, low power factor, or low voltage can all raise current draw. If a circuit trips often, have it inspected.
